Coastal Slope

This client had a difficult sloping bank, with a heavy clay structure. In addition the property was elevated above a harbour, so was exposed to the prevailing salt laden winds.

Julie wanted to plant species that wouldn't grow too high, so as to retain the views, would attract the birds into the garden and would tolerate the soil and climatic conditions'. There was also a corner of the property that needed to be screened from a public walkway below. We used decorative Corten steel panels from 'Grounded Art' in Nelson to solve the screening problem and predominantly NZ native species to attract the birdlife.

From the client

I first saw Jayne’s work at a show home in Aotea.  She has since provided me advice and planting for a difficult bank area that now looks attractive and encourages the native birds in.  She also designed and planted a lovely garden incorporating sculpture and screens and a mixture of very healthy plants that provide colour texture and easy maintenance.  In addition there is a small discreet garden for herbs and veggies.  A huge thankyou to Jayne and her team who have been a delight to work with; great communication and the quality of product and workmanship is superb.
