New Zealand's tallest native tree, reaching impressive heights of up to 60m. It is characterized by its narrow, scale-like, soft green leaves, and produces edible fruit and seeds attractive to birds. Historically, its pale wood was prized for construction. It thrives in moist, sheltered sites and is well-suited for wetland and riparian restoration projects.
