A large, evergreen tree native to New Zealand's North Island, known for its glossy green leaves, twisted trunk, and prolific pink to red flowers. It can grow up to 20 meters tall and is a valuable hardwood. The flowers attract birds, and the bright red berries that follow are also a food source for native birds. Puriri is a hardy tree, tolerating coastal conditions and even some swampy ground. Frost tender.
