Commonly known as the Black Mulberry Tree, this is a deciduous tree that is cherished for its delicious fruit and ornamental value. Small, white flowers appear in spring. Dark purplish-red, juicy berries ripen in summer. The fruit is edible and has a rich flavor. Grows to about 7 metres tall and wide.
