Butterspoon Tree. A beautiful evergreen tree native to the forests of southern Africa. It has glossy, dark green leaves with bronze-red new growth, creating a striking contrast. The large, spoon-shaped stipules at the base of the leaves give it its common name. Produces dense, fragrant, cream-colored flower clusters in late summer to autumn, which attract pollinators like bees and butterflies. Typically grows to about 5 meters in open sun but can reach up to 10 meters in forested environments. It has a non-invasive root system, making it suitable for smaller gardens. Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Tolerates light frost.
