Commonly known as the Giant Bird of Paradise. A striking plant with its large, banana-like leaves and dramatic flowers. This evergreen perennial forms large clumps with erect woody stems that can reach up to 9 meters tall. The leaves are large, up to 3 metres long, and resemble banana leaves. Large, white and pale blue flowers that resemble a bird's head, with a white crest and purple beak are produced. Prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained, fertile soil. It is hardy and can tolerate coastal conditions and salty winds.
