The brief for this garden was to create a plan for the split level site, which incorporated an outdoor fire, a courtyard to plant herbs, vegetables and fruit trees, an art studio and a spa pool.
Creating privacy was also a consideration for the new build, which is elevated and will allow views in until the property is established.
We placed the outdoor fire adjacent to the living space and kitchen area, where it gets lots of use.
The vegetable gardens were placed in the lower level to take advantage of any nutrients and moisture flowing into the area, but where they would also be tucked out of the prevailing wind and receive plenty of sunlight.
The upper and lower level contours needed to be levelled and linked, so we created a large set of steps between the two areas.
Privacy panels have been erected, which provide screening until the plants grow.

Here's what the client had to say...
"We employed Jayne to do a landscape for our garden, which included a detailed plant list with colour photos of plants that suited our site. We also employed Jayne to engage and liaise with contractors to do some of the hardscaping work. She also identified options re hardscaping materials.
Although we are experienced gardeners and had some ideas of what we wanted, Jayne came up with some different ways we could incorporate what we wanted. For example, through her we sited our outdoor fire in a completely different place than we had initially thought which works really well for us.
Once we moved into our new house, we did change a few things from Jayne’s initial plan but found it extremely helpful to provide a foundation for us to work with and we are very happy with our resulting garden.
Jayne also has some excellent contacts in the landscaping industry which allowed us to have a fantastic job done as regards for example, the paving.
Jayne is a lovely person to work with, has great ideas, produced a detailed plan that is the foundation of our garden, has a good knowledge of plants, and I have no hesitation in recommending Jayne to others in my area."
